ZUR PERSON

Rainer Zotz begann sein Studium der Humanmedizin im Jahre 1975 an der Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz. Seine Approbation erhielt er im Jahre 1981. Nach Beendigung seiner Doktorarbeit 1983 qualifizierte sich Dr. med. Rainer Zotz im Zeitraum von 1987 bis 2006 als Facharzt in den Bereichen Laboratoriumsmedizin, Innere Medizin, und Transfusionsmedizin (Zusatzbezeichnung Hämostaseologie). Er habilitierte 2004.

Nach drei Jahren als Assistenzarzt am Zentralinstitut des Sanitätsdiensts der Bundeswehr in Koblenz arbeitete er als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an den Universitäten von Essen und Düsseldorf. Von 1997 bis 1999 war er als Oberarzt am Institut für Hämostaseologie und Transfusionsmedizin des Universitätsklinikums Düsseldorf tätig, für das er von 1999 bis 2008 auch als stellvertretender Direktor und leitender Oberarzt verantwortlich war. Seit 2008 leitet er das CBT Düsseldorf und ist Direktor des privaten Hämostase-Instituts Düsseldorf, welches wissenschaftliche Fragestellungen auf dem gesamten Gebiet der Thrombose- und Hämostaseforschung bearbeitet. Hierzu gehört auch Auftragsforschung einschließlich Studienkonzeption, Studiendurchführung, hochrangige Statistik (z.B. Metaanalysen, Cox Repeated Failure –Modelle oder Mixed Models zur longitudinalen Datenanalyse) und Manuskripterstellung. 

PD Dr. Zotz ist Autor von über 100 begutachteten Veröffentlichungen und über 400 publizierten Abstracts/Vorträgen und hat für seine Arbeit eine Reihe von herausragenden Auszeichnungen erhalten. Er ist als Gutachter für 20 internationale medizinische Journale tätig und hat als Studienleiter (Investigator / Principle Investigator) an verschiedenen medizinischen Studien auf dem Gebiet der Thrombose- und Hämostaseforschung mitgewirkt. Er ist außerdem Mitglied in mehreren nationalen und internationalen wissenschaftlichen Beiräten in denen er unter anderem bei der Festlegung von Therapiestandards mitwirkt.

Preise für herausragende wissenschaftliche Arbeiten

2001 höchster wissenschaftlicher Preis der Gesellschaft für Thrombose- und Hämostaseforschung (Alexander-Schmidt-Preis) für eine Publikation im New England Journal of Medicine mit dem Titel “Prothrombin and Factor V Mutations in Women with a History of Thrombosis during Pregnancy and the Puerperium”.

2006 Edens-Preis der Eberhard-Igler-Stiftung für wissenschaftliche Arbeiten thrombophiler Determinanten im arteriellen Gefäßsystem.
